Not a book club, but a book-of-the-month club?

My grandmother loves the kinds of paperback best sellers that are commonly for sale at airports. Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, etc. I'm not very familiar with these authors or others like them, but I know that she would enjoy getting whatever the latest book by these kinds of authors as soon as it comes out. For Christmas I would like to sign her up for a subscription service, if something like this exists, that would mail her the newest novel in this category as soon as it comes out, or around once a month, or some such. I think she would enjoy the fun of looking forward to a monthly delivery and not knowing what book will be inside. Is there a service like this that exists, that would make for a good gift?

The only reason I'm thinking "newest" books out is that the chance of her having read them already will be smaller. I realize I could just send her a book I choose every month, but I'd prefer to use an established subscription service of some sort. Thanks!

Best answer: Just the Right Book seems like it can do what you want. You fill in some information about genre, favorite authors, interests, etc., and they will select books and send them to your recipient, who can then also update that info to target selections even more. There's a phone number on the site you can call for information if you have questions about whether it will work as you'd like.

Oh, I meant to add, if you decide to try it out, I'd include "would like new releases" or similar in the "tell us more" field.

Years ago, I joined the Doubleday Book Club for my Sidney Sheldon, Mary Higgins Clark, Danielle Steele, etc. fix.

It works like the old Columbia House CD club where you get several books for cheap at first and then they send you a Featured Selection on approval every month. You're required to buy four in the first year.

Oh, I just saw you said "not knowing what book will be inside." She'd get a catalog that tells what the Featured Selection is and have the option to choose something else instead.

Best answer: Aunt Lydia's Book Club. Hand selected books for the person of your choice at the frequency of your choice and the icing on the cake is that you're supporting an independent bookstore by joining or gifting a membership.
