I have Time Warner and I've been very happy with their service. I get something like 5Mb down (and much less than that up) and the service is very reliable.

I can also vouch for Time Warner; it's very fast, and very few problems. I actually use Earthlink through the TW cable lines, but I don't think it makes any difference.

The one time I had a problem, the techs were helpful on the phone and came to my apt. within three days to re-run the cable line.

Yeah, I'm on that Earthlink plan as well.

I have cablevision, and it's great as well. I know folks who will go very far out of their way to avoid TW, but I'm not sure why.

I had TWC for 2.5 years in Manhattan. Fastest home internet I've ever even heard of, much less seen; and apart from the 3-day blackout in August 03, no service outages ever.

I get the same 5MB speeds but the news server has become progressively worse of the years. How's the news server in the northeast (I'm assuming they have different ones for different regions)?

i had TW for a while too, and had a lot of problems with my service, not that i think my experience was typical on that score. however, the news server was horribly slow and that was a universal complaint.

i'm on earthlink now, and i'd recommend going that route. it's the same service, with better news servers, and if something goes wrong with TW, earthlink will deal with it for you.

There's also RCN.
