ZagrebFilter: What should we do in Zagreb?

My wife and I are going to be in Zagreb for two weeks and we're looking for recommendations on things to do, places to see, and where to eat!

We are currently doing a trip around the world, and have booked an AirBNB apartment in Zagreb for two weeks from the 11th until the 25th!

We'd love some recommendations on:

a) Food we need to try
b) Any cool events/concerts we should check out?
c) I've seen there's a film festival in Zagreb in October, but it's hard to gleam any information: will we be able to get tickets to any of the movies?
d) Since we're not staying in a hostel, we're wondering if there's any english speaking groups we could meet to hang out with for drinks or something? There's an expat MeetUp group but I don't see anything going on in October yet!

I know this is a bit scattershot, but we're going to be there for a while and would love some local perspective!

Any if any MeFites want to meet up, we'd love to meet up! PM here for eismith (at) gmail (dot) com

Outside of Zagreb: go to Plitvick (Plitvicka National Park).

This is truly one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Stunning.

Check out the Croation Museum of Niave Art. Great way to kill a couple of hours.

The Mirogoj Cemetery is a surprisingly excellent place to wander around. When I was in Zagreb a few years ago, I spent the better part of an afternoon meandering there.

Also seconding/nth-ing Plitvick. I unfortunately did not get to go there when I was around, and it still saddens me to this day.

I would second the naive art museum, and would also add the Museum of Broken Relationships, which is just as fantastically weird as it sounds.

I also had a wonderful meal at Trilogija, which is quite close to both museums
