In search of kathleen hanna's man dress

how/where do i go about getting a dress with a man print like this one? i'm at a loss as to even how to search for such a dress - as man print gives me either leopard print, or mad men dresses. i'm based in australia - but happy to buy o/s and i'm a large size - around a aus 14. i'm fine with change - going without sleeves, finding a print option where i just get one made, finding a large man print fabric and getting a dress made - i'm just looking for how to go about getting one.

Is it OK if the torso doesn't have a head? Most of these types of shirts are joke/novelty beach cover-ups like this.

I believe that's a t-shirt, not a dress.

These aren't really quite the same, but perhaps you will be interested in some of these dresses from Black Milk.

Best answer: I like a fashion challenge. I found this, which is kind of a similar concept, and you can see that the Etsy seller has other similar items in their shop.

You might try "photo print" or "screen print" as a search term.

If you're feeling crafty you could make your own man print featuring the man of your choice! Spoonflower prints custom designs on to a number of fabrics, including cotton interlock knit (stretchy!), and you could contact them to see whether they can print a single image as large as on the dress pictured.

[On preview, my God, kitty teeth, obviously I need an Artoo dress NOW.]

I was going to say you can do this on your own. Most copy places will take any picture and copy it to an iron-on transfer. Then you can get a T-shirt dress and iron it on yourself.

Not the same at all, but you might be interested in Alexander Henry Retro Hunk fabric. I want to make all the dresses out of that. I tried to link, but it didn't work somehow on my phone.

Best answer: Just in case you want a few more photos of Kathleen Hanna in the t-shirt, here are a few more. It looks like there was a print on the back as well.

The tour was in the mid-1990s (1996/1997 I believe) so you might have luck adding "vintage" or "90s" to your keywords.

Does anyone recognize the guy from a tv show or is he just a random generic bikini-dude? Can anyone make out the signature on the bottom right?

Best answer: Expanding on Ruthless Bunny's idea, if they can only make A4 size transfers, you can still divide up the photo and print it in sections. Ironing on slightly mis-aligned sections could look pretty cool too.

In a recent feature in New York Magazine, Hanna talked about Omar, her tailor. He might be helpful if you can find him.

Response by poster: thanks all for your answers. in my research, i found that bikini kill have issued a dress (i'd so get one, except i'm a type nerd and no way in hell am i promoting that typeface!), and i found another dress that somehow seemed cool for the same reasons - the i'm just a piece of meat dress. there's a metric buttload of screenprinted dresses, but nothing with a stripper type man, with a head, in a similar manner to the KH dress.
do love the sultry male stripper shower curtain.

highly tempted to go the copy route, and get this charming photo of david hasselhoff blown up and plastered on the front of a dress. sort of a nod to south park and kathleen and our f*cked up society all in one. :)
black milk fan from way back...confused as to why they haven't done a cheesy male stripper. i'll suggest it to them :)

Spoonflower lets you make your own fabric, do you have any friends that sew? Just upload whatever picture you want and have a simple sheath dress made out of the fabric. Definitely one of a kind.
