Desperately seeking non-silicone contact lens recommendations

What's a good replacement for Acuvue 2 contact lenses (non-Oasys/non-silicone) that I can get in a hurry?
Going out of the country and slacked on picking up replacements for my trusty Acuvue 2 contact lenses. Apparently, there's a nationwide shortage on Acuvue 2s and I can't get anyone to sell them to me earlier than mid-October (I can't wear the Oasys or other silicone hydrogel lenses, I've tried them multiple times, and each time, they literally make me want to claw my own eyes out with all the itching and burning).
Do you have a recommendation for a soft, non-silicon hydrogel contact lens you love? I usually do monthlies, but take them out every night, so daily recommendations are fine, too - just nothing itchy and allergenic. Thanks in advance!

I also see Acuvue2 2-weeks in stock at webeyecare.com, my usual online ordering spot. Are you sure there's a shortage?

Response by poster: Yeah, you don't find out until after you order them and they verify your prescription. I might just go from brick-and-mortar store to store to see if anyone has a spare box that matches, but have heard a lot of rumors about them being discontinued in the future and would like to find another brand that would work. With the number of people out there who have really bad reactions to the silicone hydrogel contacts, there's got to be an alternative out there...but web searching has yielded me nothing but people stocking up on Acuvue 2s.

Best answer: I use Biofinity by CooperVision (I'm a consumer and have no other affiliation with either brand), which I can get from most walk-in eye-care places. It seems there is some silicone in those, but maybe less? I searched and found this, "...uses longer siloxane chains, so less silicone is required..." but if you can't tolerate any silicone, I guess they'd still be bad, and you don't want to find that out while traveling. Still, I'm sympathetic to anyone in your situ--good luck!

Best answer: I just ordered an 8-box refill of Acuvue 2s from Target Optical and it took them about a week to get them in stock. They also had a ton of loose lenses in stock and they said I could come back for an extra pair if I needed them before my order was in. Give them a call!

At the least I'd get to Zenni Optical or some similar company and get some backup glasses, if you don't have any right now.
