Set FireFox to use Gmail to handle mailtos?

How to force FireFox to use Gmail instead of LookOut2003 to handle mailtos?
Firefox 1.0.4, Office 2K3 on WinXPSP2. Outlook took over when I upgraded from Office2K and it'll grab mailto and "Send image" right clicks even if Outlook is not running. I've (re)installed the Gmail notifier and checked the use as mailto handler box to no avail. Removing Outlook is unfortunately not an option.

Best answer: If you can do without the Gmail Notifier, there's a Firefox extension called WebmailCompose that works perfectly for me.

I had similar problems with Firefox. When I switched to Gmail earlier in the year, installed the notifier, and told it to use Gmail for mailto: links. It still fired up my old mail app (Turnpike) whenever I clicked on one. Then, a few weeks back, it mysteriously decided to start working properly. I have no idea why.

Gmailto: is a Firefox extension to do exactly what you ask.

Response by poster: Thanks Plutor, that fixed it. The notifier was still working but I removed it as I only installed to try to fix the busted mailto handling.
