Solid Online Russian Resources?

I've had trouble locating effective tools for learning Russian online. I take the class but I'm making little progress.

Background: I'm a 4-year learner of Japanese, and all the online *and* offline content I can find is very comprehensive, especially the textbooks--explanations of each point of grammar, translations into English, etc. The Russian textbook I have now is...*all* Russian.

Anyway, I've found a few sites here and there (but I've found they don't progress beyond the alphabet and some simple vocabulary, which I already know), and some messy forums, but does anyone know of something on par with The Japanese Page or Tim's Takamatsu for Russian? I'm dying to tackle this beast.

I was going to email you but...

Perhaps ask languagehat via email (he's probably not seen this question/is away from keyboard otherwise I suspect he'd throw his err. .. hat in the ring).

Hi -- yeah, I've been away a lot (both because of work and because this place is turning into a ludicrous cesspool), but here I am... and I'm afraid I can't help you. I learned Russian offline and haven't looked into the kind of thing you want. If I run across anything, I'll let you know. Meanwhile, you might drop Renee a line -- she teaches Russian and is more likely to know something about this.
