Replacing the glass on Samsung Galaxy S3

Hello MeFites. I managed to shatter the front glass on my Samsung Galaxy S3. It still works, the glass just needs replacing. What's my best course of action to get it fixed?

Quick googling has revealed people selling the glass but the replacement procedure requires heating. Sketchy. Another option is to have it sent back to Samsung to get it replaced for about $200. Pricey. Is there anything else I'm missing?

If you have insurance through your carrier and the device is broken to the point that it doesn't function properly, you should be able to file a claim. I know this seems obvious, but you wouldn't be the first person who forgot they had insurance...

Check out YouTube. There will be videos of people replacing the glass themselves and often the stores that sell the replacement glass also put tutorials online. I replaced a Blackberry glass and an iphone 4 one. It is doable with patience and closely following directions. Watching the videos will give you a real good idea of how hard it really is and if you are inclined to try it.

Here is one I found quickly. I did not watch it all the way through, but the first 5 minutes seem reasonable.
