Customizable News Aggregator for Desktop?

I am looking for a news aggregator that my old man (who is technological illiterate) can use. Ideally, we would have 4-5 key word searches that could be done on all Massachusetts news sites (Boston Globe, Herald, local city and town news sites like wickedlocal.com, maybe town and city websites). The results would be sent to him in some sort of format where redundant results would not show up. Is this possible on a desktop, or do I need to get him a tablet that has an app for this?

Your best bet is probably Trove. Works on a desktop. You'll need a Facebook account for sign-in, that seems to be the only way. You can't restrict results to specific web sites, but you'll find a Massive amount (intended) of Massachusetts keywords available.
