Is there really no ipad rss reader app with pinterest access?

All the reader apps I've found don't have pinterest support, and the pinterest app browser is a super cumbersome way to use google reader, as is safari for ipad. The only workaround I've found is to copy the web address within the RSS feed of any post I want to pin, then paste that address in either the pinterest app or safari, then pin it, rendering ipad virtually useless for reading blogs. There has to be a better way, right?

I got an ipad as a present over the holidays, and was most excited to have a way to flip through my RSS feed (google reader) using an rss app. Mostly, I follow recipe blogs, and like to pin the recipes accessed from the RSS feed onto a pinterest board.

Problem being that all the reader apps I've found (currently using feedly, but read up on all the main candidates) don't open the RSS posts in a web browser with access to the 'pin it' button, or have pinterest support, and the pinterest app browser is a super cumbersome way to use google reader, as is safari for ipad (in which I've bootlegged a pin it button to the bookmarks, ala web instructions). There has to be a better way, right?

Best answer: The problem is that Pinterest still doesn't have a public API for developers to use. (Yeah, that post is from a year ago, but it's still true.)

If you are open to non-Pinterest workarounds, I use Evernote to organize my recipes. You can still do a grid view and see all your recipes by photo, and with full-text search, tagging and notebooks it is much easier to find what you are looking for. You could create an IFTTT recipe to send recipes to Evernote when you star them in Google Reader.

Best answer: The workaround I use is, while reading in Feedly (or Pocket or whatever), choose "open in Safari", then in Safari use the Pinterest iOS bookmarklet to pin it.

Clunky. C'mon, Pinterest, get it together — you've been saying "As soon as this can be made simpler, it will be" for more than a year now!

I suggest you contact the author of the Reeder app with this request. I bet he adds it or responds with an explanation as to why he can't. Then you'll know you need a workaround.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone, I am still shocked that pinterest isn't available to developers! Jeez.

Thanks Lexica for the workaround, I hadn't noticed the safari button at the top of the reader - which does make the process at least a little easier, but still a pain. I'll send in a request to pinterest to get their act together in the meantime. I also appreciate teh Evernote/Flipboard suggestions - but would hate to lose the social network I have on pinterest - altough I must say a full text search would be an improvement!
