Starfire Against Drugs!

The New Teen Titans, back in the 80's, had an anti-drug comic which was absolutely horrifying/scarring/probably did what it intended to do WRT drugs and NOT DOING THEM. At least for me.

Anyhoo, I seem to recall the cover being Starfire crying, on her knees, holding the body of a dead child, tears streaming down her face. There's a spotlight on her.

Was it ever a cover, or am I thinking of a page inside the comic? Googling only turns up the pretty tame cover with some guy who shoots bows and arrows. But apparently The New Teen Titans did a few anti-drug comics. Does anyone know the page I"m thinking of, and could they confirm if it was, in fact, not a title page but just a page inside one of the comics.

Why yes I am competing for most pocket-linty/nerdy question of all time.
, why do you ask?

I think it was real and part of a PSA series. I also remember an equally horrible Teen Titans comic about safe sex. It was likely a short/one page thing on the back or last page. My best guess where to find those would be I-Mockery.com.

I just went and flipped through the three-issue New Teen Titans anti-drug PSA miniseries you and MinusCelsius are referring to, and I don't see anything that looks precisely like what you describe, either on the covers or in the interiors. The closest I see is Starfire's big emotional moment from issue #2.

I wonder if your memories might be remixing that scene with the cover to New Teen Titans #27? It's Cyborg in the spotlight instead of Starfire, but other than that it seems visually spot on to your description.

Oh, and the guy with a bow and arrows that you saw on the covers you Googled up is Speedy, Green Arrow's sidekick, who is front and center because he knows what it's like to have a drug problem.

When you described the image, this is the first one that popped into my mind, but the subject matter doesn't mesh.

Response by poster: Inkslinger: ohh, so very close. That pic of Cyborg looks really close. I may just be going in sane and have imagined it.

sardonyx : hm. no, that's not it, although it comes close to looking like what I describe.

I may just be going crazy.
