SWFloridaFilter: Is there anything fun to do at night in Ft. Myers, Florida? I'm 30-something from the SF Bay area, and I'm having a hard time finding anything online or in the local paper. Thanks!

Not sure exactly what you're looking for but Sanibel Island is extraordinarily beautiful, full of wild birds thanks to the refuge area, and there are some great restaurants, including one called the Green Flash on Captiva, from which to watch the sunset.

Definitely go to Sanibel. My parents live there. Their favorite restaurants are The Grill (aka Timbers) and Twilight Cafe. There isn't a whole lot in the way of nightlife as far as I know, but you can get a good dinner there.

As a former 16-year resident of southwest Florida, I can verify a shortage of nighttime activities that do not involve restaurants, the beach, or restaurants on the beach. A few (possibly Naples-centric) suggestions

The Naples Beach Hotel is host to series of free summer jazz concerts. One is coming up on August 27th.

If you're into baseball, you might be interested in checking out a Ft. Myers Miracle game. There are a bunch of evening home games scheduled for next week.

Check the Local Events section of the Naples Daily News, which generally covers both Collier and Lee counties. (Site requires registration for any meaningful info; accounts on bugmenot.com.)

The Naples Philharmonic Center has stuff and things.

"Attractions" I hestitate to mention because I'm embarassed to know they exist:
Seminole Gulf Railway Theater Dinner Train
Big M Casino Cruise
Ft. Myers Greyhound Track
