Where to go for climate data?

Where are good places to look for historical weather data?

I'm looking for temperature and precipitation data for Japan, specifically. I don't need anything too specific, just yearly average precipitation and temperature, preferably going back to 1980, but I'm having a surprisingly difficult time tracking this down. Any suggestions of places to look?

Here's a website that includes historical weather information (it goes back to the 70's, it looks like) for countries all over the world. The link is specifically for the information on Japan, but you should be able to get anywhere else in the world from there. http://www.tutiempo.net/en/Climate/Japan/JP.html

Weather Underground has historical data for many places. I just checked for Tokyo, and they have historical data back to the 1950s.

Enter the search to get your location, then scroll down to "History & Almanac" and select the date from the controls in the box. Hope this helps!
