What's fun for groups in new york?

Looking for fun group activities in NYC - 20-50 college-age people, budget roughly $20/person.

We live here, but most of us aren't from here, so touristy-but-not-too-touristy is okay. Activities need not be formal programs (many of those are out of budget anyways) - an off-the-beaten-track place and something to do there is fine. Ideally, these trips would be 2-4 hours.

Bonus: winter/December friendly, but I also welcome other suggestions for spring (especially if they're super cheap).

things I enjoyed as a college student in New Jersey when our track team needed bonding:

bowling night - bonus if you can find midnight lazer show bowling

rent a curling rink and bring in a keg of beer

rent a movie theatre and show top gun - encourage singing, standing and jeering, and throwing things at the screen

How about joining the next Improv Everywhere mission? I believe it's free to participate.

Pack a picnic lunch and take it the Tramway (gondola) to Roosevelt Island. It's spectacular to be up in the sky next to the Brooklyn Bridge, and there is all sorts of parks space that looks back to Manhattan. You can use your Metro Card to get there, so it's basically a free day!

Staten Island Ferry trip, if everyone packs a lunch?

MoMA or Guggenheim Museum on a free/pay-what-you-wish night? (I believe those are Friday and Saturday respectively.)
