Has anyone had a Washington DC online renewal successfully forwarded by post office?

Lost my Washington DC vehicle paper registration and I have a new address. Has anyone requested a new registration online and was it successfully forwarded?

Details: I have a car registered (not expired) in Washington DC, and I've already moved to Virginia. I didn't realize until just this week that I can't find my paper registration. I requested online on the DC DMV site for them to send me a duplicate, and it goes to the old address (unless you go in person). I already have a forwarding order on my old address.

Has anyone else done this - did the post office forward it? Did it go to the old address instead? If it goes to the old address I'm OK also because the current resident is collecting mail for me.

Bonus points - I still have a lien on my car. Is there supposed to be some other piece of paper from the DC DMV other than the paper registration that VA is going to ask me for? I have the new car purchase order.

Best answer: Yes and yes. HOWEVER! Next time, do it at a AAA. You'll have the registration in your hot little hands immediately rather than waiting for it and depending on the vagaries of the USPS. I did this recently and was amazed at how smoothly it went.
