Going for the artsy, pseudo-vintage look.

Where might one find t-shirts that depart from the mass-produced style? Online, I have only come across this and this; I like their 1) hemless collars/bottoms/sleeves and 2) light/thin fabric.

I distinctly remember such deconstructed, thin shirts worn by young people in NYC, including a prior hairstylist (he was Japanese, maybe he got it from Japan?). But that was several years ago, and now I'm having a hard time finding such actual merchandise, even online.

If it's a case of a trend falling out of fashion, then I could approximate the same effect by taking a regular thin t-shirt and ripping its seams out. Not that I've committed to wear such a thing yet; it's more just curiosity at this point and an interest in trying it out.

Don't fall down laughing at my link, but this certainly appears to be what you're looking for.

I think a lot of stuff at ASOS might be up your alley; over here in the UK it's a fairly major online retailer. It also allows you to drill down by shape, size and colour, not to mention brand.

Best answer: American Vintage does really great thin cotton tees (very comfy & stretchy).

Other suggestions (I'd search beyond what you see at these links, since not all shops carry all styles):

- Uniforms for the Dedicated
- Prim I Am
- T by Alexander Wang
- it may take some poking around, but YesStyle (example)

To a lesser extent:

- LNA
- Fifth Ave Shoe Repair
- BLK DNM
- ACNE
- Balmain
