Books on Block Clubs?

Can you recommend books or other sources of information on block clubs?
I am interested to read about how block clubs and neighbor alliances transform neighborhoods and citizens.
In a lot of places, these are also called garden clubs.
You'll find some analysis of small-scale local networks like the ones you describe in Sean Safford's Why the Garden Club Couldn't Save Youngstown. That might also be a great source for references that will take you to material more precisely about your topic.

I borrowed it from my public library, and it is an excellent look at a series of neighbourhood "placemaking" projects that echo the idea of block clubs.
