Help dear Mefites! Could you price our promotional catalogue?

We have somehow been stuck with preparing a promotional guide for a side project we have. And we know nothing about this sort of thing. But we have to come up with a price in 2 days!! We want to print something like 1000 little booklets with color figures, some text, photos etc probably 5 letter-size pages long. Nice but not top quality. Could you estimate how much something like that would cost?

And since you are at it, could you suggest who can make and print those things?

a lot of print shops would be happy to give you an estimate ... or if it's too fancy for them, refer you to commercial printers ... call around

if you don't insist on glossy paper quite a few print shops can do this sort of thing ... my brother, who isn't in your area, can do it directly from computer to printer

you should be able to get a ballpark figure after placing a few calls

Where are you and what is your time frame?
What program is the brochure created in?
A ballpark figure for a 4 page brochure 8.5 x 22 folded to 8.5 x 11 would be around $500.00 - $600.00 (this could be on the low side). the same brochure in 6 pages would be $900.00 - $1,000.

I would check out this online printer. They've saved me a lot of headaches that I normally would have to go through dealing with local resources. I dunno, maybe it's because I live in the midwest, but every little print shop here is very antiquated in their processes and their pricing leaves much to be desired. If you're skeptical, fill out the information for their sample kit and you'll get it in about a week.

As for the design, that's another job entirely.

Response by poster: I am in New York. Well, we have not created the brochure yet but we need to tell our funding agency how much it will approximately cost. We will need to get it done within a couple of months (after September).

Prostyle, thank you for the site.

Thank you all for the responses.

I am looking for something similiar, 30 8.5 by 11 inch glossy pages. Best price I could find after many phone calls was US$1,620.00 for 100, center stitched and glossy card stock cover.
Since that's over budget, we're printing and collating 50 copies - that's 750 individual pages, duplex plus covers. I expect our printer to crap out.
We will be needing more (and better), so we are still looking for a professional solution.
