What is the easiest way to remotely access bookmarks and word docs on my desktop from my laptop?

I've done some research, but a lot of the suggestions seem way too complicated for what I want to do.

Essentially, I have a laptop with wireless connection and want to be able to access/edit the google chrome bookmarks on my desktop and be able to copy and paste stuff from my gmail into existing word documents on my desktop. One caveat is I don't have a ton of space on my little inspiron laptop, so the more lightweight the program/tool, the better.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Chrome sync (built into chrome) for your chrome bookmarks.

Dropbox (or google drive) for your word docs.

Yup that's the answer. You could also open your word docs in Google Docs and not have to store them anywhere.

Be advised that the proper way to set up chrome sync is:

If you're already running chrome:
1. Organize and sort all bookmarks. EXPORT THEM.
2. Delete them, but not the exported file.
3. Repeat on second computer.
4. Log in to chrome (does this when you first install, or wrench icon/settings/sign in
5. Import bookmarks on pc 1.
6. Load chrome on computer 2 and sign in and wait for sync. (I believe it can be forced.)

If you're not already running chrome:
1. Install chrome.
2. Enable Sync.
3. Import bookmarks from existing browser.
4. Install on second machine, enable sync, wait.

If you absolutely won't run chrome, then use X-Marks for firefox.

If you won't run chrome or firefox (or maybe opera? I think opera has a sync tool?) and you're a diehard IE fan....none of us can help you.
