What Film did I see/

What short film did I see? It was 1988 and it was in an American Literature class at the local junior college.
The film was about a group of cowboys who are waiting in a train station. There is a blizzard outside with white out conditions. There was a conflict among the cowboys. Everything was real gritty. That is all I can remember. Afterwords The class discussed the film and everyone seemed to agree that the train station was some metaphor for death or purgatory. The teacher was coy and said little. We also watched William Faulkner's "Barn Burner" starring Tommy Lee Jones. This has been nagging me for years. Please Hive Mind allieve me of my torment.
