Help me find a quirky and not too expensive hotel in Stockholm.

I'm heading with my partner to Stockholm for a long weekend in June and would love recommendations for a place to stay. We'd like to stay somewhere that won't break the bank but also a bit individual and quirky. For example, I stayed in the CitzenM hotel in Glasgow recently and loved it - it was boutique but at a budget conscious £70-90 per night. I am guessing Stockholm will be a bit pricer than Glasgow so happy to pay a bit more, but that's the sort of place I am looking for. TIA!

Not sure how you feel about more of a hostel-type place, but my wife and I stayed on the Red Boat and really rather enjoyed it! It's a quick walk to a major transit hub, too.

We stayed in an Omena Hotelli in Helsinki - a branch will be opening in Stockholm in May. (We ended up staying in the Formule1 on the grounds that the Paris one was fine. This one wasn't.) It's a budget hotel, but the self-service aspect and the decor was much nicer than the equivalent chains in the UK. There's also a fridge and a microwave in each room which is a massive advantage in an expensive city. I'd definitely book the Stockholm one if I were to go back. It's not boutique-quirky but I found it really hard to find an actual hotel room for less than £100 per night (most hostels seemed to run at least £60 for a private double room), so it's worth looking at if you really need to save money.

I did look at the Skanstulls Hostel, but went for the Formule1 thinking an actual hotel would be more relaxing (really, don't stay in the Formule1 Stockholm). I've never stayed in a hostel as a couple though so am not sure what it's like, but it looked pretty nice.

Story Hotel looks very similar, but is a lot more expensive than I'm used to paying for a hotel (we like to spend the money on mysterious flavoured crisps).

Response by poster: Oh my, I love the Story Hotel. Love it. Possibly a wee bit expensive but it's going on the list. The Omena looks good too and it will be open for our trip! I do like the idea of the Red Boat too... Thanks guys!

We stayed here. It was a beautiful location and relatively convenient, and quite reasonably priced. The rooms are small, because they are all cells of an old prison. Hopefully that's the sort of quirky you are after!
