Find me a hardwearing leather bag made in the UK

My parents have said they will buy me a hardwearing leather satchel, much like the Saddleback Leather ones for my birthday. Problem: they want to get one made in the UK (supporting local industries), but everything that comes up googling seems to be made for looks, not ruggedness and function. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Size-wise, I'm looking for something which will take an A4 folder, and price-wise under £150 (though if there's something which is perfect I'd happily put some extra money towards it).

You could probably email that Dave guy from Saddleback and ask him. He would probably get behind your parents.

Best answer: Cambridge Satchel Company bags are handmade in the UK. They are in your price range. Here are lots of pictures and a very detailed review.

Best answer: I have one of these and I've used it every day for about three years. The leather isn't terribly thick but it's held up well and it looks awesome.

If you want something that doesn't come with a pre-broken in look (and which is made of thicker, sturdier leather), you'll be wanting a bag from the Cambridge Satchel Company.

I've heard good things about Scaramanga too.

Zatchels also manufacture in the UK, but I don't know if these are too fashion-y for you.

Response by poster: Thanks! Now to decide whether I want sturdier or more pockets!
