What to wear with this kind of skirt?

I'm invited to a wedding in May, and would like to wear this skirt. I'll wear a pair of neutral shoes (this one). What top should I wear with? I have no idea what color / shape would be good. I find that blouses make the look too… vintage.
My friends aren't into clothes / fashion, so here's why I'm asking you, mefites :)

thank you in advance!

Tank top, light short sleeve sweater that ties or buttons. Make it something close to the body and short enough to show the waistband of the skirt or something that can be tucked in. Lots of stuff falls in that category! Cute skirt!!

Because your skirt is such a great color, I would opt for a neutral sleeveless shirt in a nice material (nothing shiny). I think white, rather than cream, to let the skirt color really pop. Definitely stick with something fitted that you can tuck into the skirt to keep the lines smooth. I would then accessorize with a statement necklace which can really define the type of look you want to create. You can go a bit romantic, delicate, bold, modern. You can definitely introduce one more primary colour into your necklace.

A close fitting lace vest might also work with the right statement necklace, just nothing too girly so that it instead contrasts with the skirt and lace.

I would also keep a lookout for a clutch to finish it all off.

Depends on your color preferences - I'd personally go with a sleeveless black v-neck shirt, something that you can tuck in, but I also agree that white would go well.

Well, I'm gonna disagree on color! This is the season for it, and color blocking is totally on trend. With that kelly green skirt, I would pick a lemon yellow, fuschia, cobalt blue or hot purple silk blouse, roll the sleeves, add a bejazzled belt, a clutch in the same color as the belt and light metallic shoes (sorry ... the Jeffrey Campbells are contributing to the vintage vibe). Anyway, great skirt, have fun!

It depends on your overall shape.

You will need a very dressy top with it - beading should do the trick. The neckline should be above your cleavage, and the sleeves should be elbow-length or longer.

I wouldn't wear a black top - some superstitious people think green is bad luck at weddings, and while politeness doesn't obligate you to pamper their superstitions, adding a black top will a) kill the bright green colour and b) imply a funereal mood or disapproval of the match, or something. So, (black + green) => ((funereal + bad luck!) ^ (I bought you an exploding present)). Whereas, blue+green is nice. Or purple+green.

I HAVE THIS SKIRT! It's my new favorite skirt. I've paired it with a thin patterned shirt (kinda like this one) and a vintage marigold-yellow cardigan with either coral flats (it's super colorful but cute) or brown wedges. This spring's fashion is all about wildly colorful outfits, so don't feel intimidated by all that kelly green, but definitely let it determine other bold colors to pair it with.

I did a google image search for "umbrella skirt" and amidst the weird results, there were some really cute ones; you should give that a try and see if there are looks you like.

I wore a similar shaped, brightly colored skirt to two weddings last fall (can't find a good pic but I'm in the front row in this group shot, bright pink patterned skirt with a baby in a carrier). Because the skirt was so loud, I went really monochrome on everything but the skirt--black tights, black flats, black sleeveless shell. I had a dark cardigan that I didn't need for the September wedding, but I did need it for the October one.

I do think that since your skirt is a solid color, you could pair it with other bright colors and be fine. I thought that getting a sleeker top made the whole thing a little less "Mad Men extra", which it sounds like you're concerned with too.

Don't go with neutral shoes; I love the shape of those wedges, but the khaki & black are too blah for that gorgeous color.

I think a thinly strapped/strapless top would be perfect. (Pair it with a lovely patterned shawl for modesty/warmth, if you like.) If you want to avoid the wrap, a boatneck shirt tucked in would also be great. Definitely go with sleek over blousy.

I take a lot of risks and try a lot of experimentation in my fashion choices, so I would wear a white blouse with an edgy element: http://www.pixiemarket.com/store/laceinsertblouse-p-4430.html Do you have black heels to pair it with?

Don't wear a puffy blouse since your skirt already has a lot of texture. A tank top sounds a bit like a copout, so I would try to find the right blouse. Something with an open back or revealing back would be pretty nice.

I love that skirt so much! Tempted to buy it now. I actually love the shape of the top the model is wearing with it in the photo - and for that matter, I like the color too. I think you could wear something very close to what the model is wearing in the photo, and just swap out her shoes for the neutral ones you linked too. That's what I would do!

I would wear it with something like this, a close-fitting drape-necked top in a neutral color (but not white).

I too would go with sleeveless, preferably in a silky/satiny fabric. (especially if any portion of the wedding will be during they day in May!). Love the idea of a statement necklace (or bracelet) that picks up the red in the shoes. Suggestions:

One
Two (in black)
Three (my fav)
Four (depending on how the green looks next to the ivory)
Five (more casual)
Six

On the other hand, if this is a dressy, evening wedding, you will need dressier shoes and a dressier top (with beading, lace, and satin instead of cotton). If it's a dressy evening wedding I would do a black top and black shoes.

I'd wear a tight cashmere crewneck, heels, and a simple pearl necklace.
