LGBT bars north of Cincinnati

Asking for my girlfriend, who is travelling in a north Cincinnati suburb and looking for a LGBT-friendly bar tonight. She's staying in West Chester and looking for something closer than the Northside neighborhood. She has a car, but doesn't want to drive "too far". Not looking for a hookup (no meat-markets), more just a place with friendly people where she can get a nice drink and chat/make friends.

Best answer: West Chester is going to be difficult. Maybe Monroe is a little closer? There's a bar there that bills itself as very gay friendly (Old Street Saloon, 13 Old Street, Monroe, OH). It's about 20 minutes from the center of West Chester.

Here's a list of LGBT friendly bars in and around Cincinnati.

Meant to add: if she's willing to make the drive (about a half hour) to Northside (and I'd recommend it; it's a great little community), the Northside Tavern, the Comet, and Mayday are all stellar bars and are incredibly LGBT friendly (and she can eat at Melt!).

and she can eat at Melt!

Wait, is this a bar that sells grilled cheese? I had no idea Cleveland’s Melt had expanded down south. How long has it been there??

All of these places in Northside are great.

I swear, this is my last post. In Northside, Melt is next to the Tavern. The Comet used to have great burritos and tacos; the quality has gone down a bit but it's still pretty good and the salsas are excellent. Mayday has its own menu that's quite good. I'd still recommend Melt, though.

I'd be interested to know how she likes Old Street Saloon, if she goes. I'm only going by hearsay to recommend it.

Apparently, I lied. No, Melt doesn't exclusively do grilled cheese. They are pretty well-known in the area for their melty sandwiches, but not solely grilled cheese. For that, we have Tom + Chee!

Response by poster: Unfortunately, she had to work later than she expected, and was too tired to go out afterwards. Thanks for the information, perhaps she'll have a chance to use it if there is another trip out that way.

Comment from her: "I love that the conversation devolved into a debate on grilled cheese sandwiches" (A love of cheese is one of the questions on her shortlist too weed out prospective dates).
