Is this apartment licensed?

How can I find out if an apartment complex is licensed?

Is there a way I can check to make sure an apartment complex is current on all of the licenses and certifications they legally need to have? I'm in Arizona if that makes a difference. Thank you!

I'd call the city (or county if not in city limits) where it is located. Since they do the licensing, they should be able to tell you if a place is on the up & up regarding fire code inspection, certificate of occupancy, and so on.

My city actually allows you to look up property info by address on their website, including permits and complaints, but the info is in fairly heavy bureaucrat-ese, so I just call if I really want to understand the details.
