Vertical Chrome Bookmark Bar

How do I make Chrome show bookmarks in a vertical row down the left side, like they do in Firefox?

Firefox Bookmarks go down the left side of the screen, so that the first 50 or so are visible. Chrome shows them across the top, with only about 15 visible, and it's clumsy to scroll right for more.

I can get a vertical list down the right side in Chrome by clicking on the >> mark at the top right, but I want the list to be visible all the time.

The Chrome forums have many requests to implement a vertical bar, but the Google designers appear to think this conflicts with their design goals.

So is there a hack that will create a vertical Bookmarks bar in Chrome, or make the >> dropdown list "sticky"?

My low tech solution:

Right click on the Chrome bookmarks bar and choose "add folder".
Name it bookmarks.
Drag it across to the left hand edge of the Chrome bookmarks bar.
Drop all the bookmarks into the folder.
Click on the folder and get a drop down list of all the bookmarks in the folder.

Your mileage may vary, depending on how many bookmarks you have and how well organised (lots of subfolders in mine, keeping the main list short) you are.

There WAS a built-in option in about:flags but it got deprecated a few months ago, the link has some alternative options.

I'll try it and report back. Can I drag and drop new bookmarks into the list and delete ones I don't want any more?

It's not vertical TABS want, it's vertical BOOKMARKS.
