Best answer: USB? Does your computer recognize the device is being plugged in? What version of Windows?

Response by poster: USB - XP - puter does NOT recognize it as being plugged in.

Best answer: Have you tested other devices on each of your USB jacks?

Are you sure the USB cable that the printer came with/the cable you're using isn't faulty?

Best answer: Have you tried a different cable? Have you tried this printer with this cable on any other computer?

Response by poster: OK - I switched the USB hub and it's now *working*. I don't know - I think there's some kind of printer genie jinx around here. It's always something. Now it's deciding to spew and sputter, with paper jams. But after about 2 hours I got it set up after reinstalling, restarting, switching the hub, taking out the paper, reinserting it, switching the printer on and off and numerous canceling printing jobs. I think it's as good as it'll get at this point. Thanks guys,
