Please give us a drinking game to go with the 1979 original 'La Cage Aux Folles."
background:
1) We love, love, LOVE The Birdcage to pieces and have seen it dozens of times.
2) We have never seen La Cage Aux Folles, and we're going to watch it for the first time tonight.
3) By 'drinking game' I mean beer-sips, not shots, so triggers that show up frequently/unexpectedly/&c are wildly encouraged.
We have previously done this with King's X's Live Love In London DVD, for which we drank a) when the vocalist did his trademark scream; b) & c) when the other band members displayed trademarks of their own-- facial expressions, specifically; and d) when the crowd did their own trademark chanting of the drummer's name (something that we King's X fans proudly do multiple times per show-- don't ask me why)
Anywho-- the reason I mention the KX game (which is a regular quarterly event for us now) is that those triggers called for a hefty lot of drinking-- again, in sips of beer, that is.
NOTE: there's also lots of (read: too much) eating, and no one is driving home, so... no citations, life-and-property endangerments, alcohol poisoning, or hangovers to worry about abetting by taking part in this Askme question.
4) most importantly, we haven't seen this film before, so my hive-inquiry involves specific, non-obvious things that would suit a viewing of this film-- things we would not know to look for** from those of you who have experience with/knowledge of its texture, tone, and substance
(that's another reason that I mentioned our King's X DVD tradition-- the triggers all have to do with things that seasoned fans of the band know to look for and look forward to-- hence, the fun is three-fold (when you count the drinking).
5) A member of our family-- one of our dogs-- died yesterday, so a big reason that we are so decided on doing something so decidedly silly (and, of course, making a tradition of it) is to lift our spirits, so.. funny stuff is encouraged (with this film, that must go without saying, but.. now you're totally filled in on what we want to do with this and why).
So s'il vous plait.. make the rules for us. *cheers & thanks
** since we are kind of competitive and thrive on enchanted/intrigued expectations going in, we wouldn't want to just fudge it by using eg. things that we would (not necessarily reliably) expect it to have in common with its remake, or things that we establish after observing them in the first few minutes of viewing. That part being already done when the lights go out just makes the start of the game that much more exciting, which we consider vital to-- well, objectively, let's say optimal for-- the game.
