Does my new computer have Sandy Bridge?

Several months ago, I bought a new HP computer with an Intel i5 CPU. This was about the time the Sandy Bridge architecture was being introduced. Is there a diagnostic program that can tell me whether I have Sandy Bridge?

Many thanks.

Best answer: Right-click on "My Computer" and hit "Properties". This will bring up your system information, which should have a string like "Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 17-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz". What does your computer say?

Best answer: Once you have your processor, go here and search the page for your processor name.

Intel lists Sandy Bridge CPUs here.

Whoops. That page is a list of all current and former products that used the renamed Sandy Bridge.

Go to start -> run and type "dxdiag" without the quotes, it should tell you (I think)

For Core i5, the Sandy Bridge models are 23nn, 24nn, or 25nn (where n is a digit), possibly with a letter on the end.
