Scroogle is dead; long live Startpage.

How do I change my default search engine for Firefox ON A MAC?
The critical details:
I'm running Mac OSX, Version 10.5.8 (Leopard.)
My preferred browser is Firefox, Version 3.6.27
Now that Scroogle is defunct, I want to use Startpage HTTPS as my default search engine. I've scoured the web on how to do this, but all the advice I've found applies only to Windows systems, it seems.
Please, hold my hand and walk me through how to change my default search engine from Google to Startpage HTTPS.
Oh, please don't let this be painful, but if it is, I'll try to be strong. TIA.

Response by poster: kindall, I've done that, but it merely adds Startpage to my list of search engines. When I type something into my regular address bar, it defaults to Google. I'm asking how to tell the address bar to be Startpage, not Google.

Have you tried these instructions? They're for Firefox 4 but they would probably work with 3, too.

Best answer: When you click on the arrow next to the google logo you should get a drop-down showing all the installed search engines and then at the bottom it says "Manage Search Engines", that allows you to edit the order of search engines or remove them - putting your chosen one to the top should make it the default, I believe. I just checked and this doesn't change what happens when you type something that isn't a url into the regular address bar though...
If you go to about:config look for the entry Keyword.URL - try changing that to https://startpage.com/do/search?cmd=process_search&cat=web&query=

Response by poster: Ah! Thanks, missmagenta! 'Tis done!
And bcwinters, those instructions are for Windows. Everything on this damn planet is for Windows. But, thanks, anyway!
Oh, I'm happy now...

The screenshots are for a windows computer, yes, but the instructions are the exact same ones that missmagenta posted. There is no difference between the platforms when making changes like this in Firefox.
