Ginja drink / recipe recommendations?

I've been given a few pints of ginja - what should I make with it? Drinks seem logical, but if there's something else that is over-the-top great, I'd like to know about it.

I've never heard of it before, but if I were in your shoes I'd look at recipes where I could use Ginja as a substitute. Take a small sip of it:

  • Is it sweet like Maraschino liqueur?

  • Try a Cat's Eye or a Serpent's Egg

  • Is it more like a cherry brandy?
Perhaps it can be used as a substitute for Cherry Heering in drinks like the Blood and Sand, the Communist, or a Singapore Sling.

Keep in mind you probably won't be using much of it in any given cocktail (.25 to .5oz), so the pints (!!) are going to last you a while. If you're feeling festive you could throw a party and create a Ginja-based punch. Check out Nick Strangeway's Punch a la Milanese at Gin and Tales for amazing technique at putting together a punch recipe.

Personally, I'd lean towards using it with Gin for an everyday kind of cocktail, and maybe Creme de Cacao and/or Brandy for something more desert-like in flavor.

    good luck! :D
