What are these shoes?

I wish I was a athletic/jogging/tennis shoe enthusiast: I need help in identifying the type/brand/shoe of this particular pair seen in a particular photo.
(unfortunately in the picture, important distinguishing features are obscured by a pair of socks): link to picture The shoes have a pretty distinct profile and I feel I've seen them before, but then again, there are probably quite a number that have that general shape. I guess it's not super important that I find out exactly what kind of shoe it is. But I thought I'd ask the collective conscious.

I'm going to guess a barefoot shoe like the Saucony Hattori.
The height difference between the back of the shoe and the tongue area, the semi-distinctive sole and the irony of have a 'barefoot shoe' inside of a sock all make me think it's something in that genre.
It's not a fingered shoe and its profile, assuming it's a recent shoe, doesn't look like any Merrell, Inov-8 or New Balance shoe that I'm familiar with...
