Does anyone know where to buy a very big, accurate, up-to-date world map? I want to hang one from a wall (not as wallpaper per se, but from clips).

Maplink is your best bet. They're the largest map distributor, and they also sell retail through their website. Their store is the only place that I know of where you're guaranteed to find only up-to-date maps.

National Geographic has a 110"×76" (that's more than nine by six feet) mural map; it costs about $100.

How big is "very big"? If you're looking for something to take up most of the wall, this XL Large size political World map might do the trick. They also sell the large size maps that pull down like a projector screen, often found in classrooms. If you just want something more along the lines of a poster, I found lots of options with google: "world map poster".

Stanfords is another map authority, with a selection of world maps. This one is four meters by two and comes cut in twelve sheets.

I have always trusted Metskers Maps of Seattle. They do a great job of finding exactly what you need for a good price.

Raven Maps has some impressive looking ones:

I second Raven maps, they are beautiful.

You might want to look at a map that's a little different.
