Looking for a certain backpack

I'm looking for a certain military surplus backpack.
Five years ago, I bought a military surplus backpack that worked amazingly well. It was a European pack, styled similar to an American Alice pack, but more to my liking. The backpack has to large pockets on the side, big enough to fit a sixteen oz. bottle of water. The middle of the pack has a front pocket opened with a zipper. The main portion of the back pack is huge, and opened and closed with a thing of cord.
Over the top of the central part of the backpack, covering the opening of the backpack's main pocket is a large flat storage area closed with a zipper. This storage section is retangular. The rectangular section has two straps that come down to close the backpack up tightly.

Response by poster: Compared to the one's Kirth posted: The middle part is bigger than the first one. The backpack is much smaller than the second one. It was a cheaper canvas(?) bag, maybe $20 or $30.

Response by poster: It looked very similar to this Nato Rucksack, but the top flap worked as a pocket. And the pocket in the middle used a zipper.

If you live near an Army surplus store, it would be worth checking the place out. I've a great German rucksack that's a lot like the NATO one (though lacking the front pocket - it's a lot like this one) that I ran across in such a store a year ago, and it's the best backpack I've owned. Probably not a specific enough answer, but I got mine used, very cheap, and I haven't found similar prices online, so if there's a surplus store anywhere near you, it'd be worth checking out before turning to the internet. [I know how hard it can be to find the right thing, though - I've been looking for a second pair of Austrian army boots for a while, and I haven't found any quite like the ones I have now.]

dial-tone, are they like this one or this one? I saw them on the AFMO site you linked. Every couple of years Land's End, L.L. Bean, and Eddie Bauer put out packs like you describe. Some might be on sale at eBay.
