How To Fit a Photo In New Twitter account?

I have a banner sized photo that I need to fit in. When I go to "add photo" and upload it, it only show 25% of the image. What can I do to get it fully in. I know it will be smaller

You are asking about your profile picture? It is only ever going to show a square picture, so you could reduce the size of your image, but not the canvas, so that your image will fit within a square that has a bunch of wasted space, but that's probably not going to make you happy.

Current image:

Reduced image:

Then crop that image into a square:

GIMP is a free image editing program that would work for this.
