Help Me Keep Fit in My New (York) City

Looking for affordable, long-term outdoor group fitness classes in New York City. Or reasonably priced gyms with plenty of rowing machines and free weights.

I've just returned to New York City and would like to keep up my fitness routine, which at one time incorporated HIIT rowing, weight lifting and outdoor group "boot camp" style fitness. Toward the end, I increased the outdoor, decreased the rowing and weight lifting.

I'd like to go all-outdoor in NYC if possible. I got very used to paying $80/month for up to three 1-hour outdoor sessions per week in my previous major metropolitan city. Classes were challenging but fun, with a mixed group of fitness levels. The ones I've come across in this new major metropolitan city of New York have primarily been female-focused (not applicable) or short-term, outrageously priced "get fit as a celebrity!!!!111!!1!!!" type of things. Location is not important to me -- I'm willing to huff it around the city to be a part of an affordable and fun situation.

Failing all that, I'd be interested in a gym in Manhattan (either Midtown West or LES if possible) that has ample stocks of rowing machines and free weights. Searches on rowing manufacturers websites come up short on facilities in the city, unfortunately.

So, Manhattan mefi fitness friends, where should I be looking?

Crossfit Harlem conducts most of their workouts outdoors and is not female focused, short term, or "get fit as a celebrity" whatever.

Regarding rowing machines, I'd just get a trial pass to any gym in your neighborhood that has at least one rowing machine -- it's not like you use more than one at a time, and rowing machines seem to be surprisingly unpopular among the NYC gym-going crowd. You'll get a feel pretty quickly of whether you'll ever have to wait for an erg during your usual gym time. My old gym only had two and I never saw anyone else on them.

meetup.com has (or at least it used to. I haven't looked in a while) a lot of these outdoor boot camp classes for nyc. I can't vouch for any of their qualities.
