Would you recommend some very high fidelity nature sounds recordings? I am especially interested in ocean waves / beach sounds. The 1080p stuff on youtube is just not cutting it. And it's impossible to tell the audio quality of CD samples. The higher the quality the better.

I'm a big fan of Bernie Kraus' field recordings but unfortunately he seems more interested in those nature sounds created by animals, rather than waves, wind and rain. However, the Syntonics Research records may match your requirements -- what's your opinion of the first Environments recording?

These guys are awesome! If you have an iDevice, they have an app that let's you download individual tracks. I think you can also buy directly from their store. The quality and diversity of their stuff is amazing.

I can vouch for naturespace: hadn't heard of them until now but I just bought their thunderstorm soundfile and it's beautiful. They have a good selection and they're only $3-$4 per recording.

Based on a review on the Naturespace website I bought a pair of incredibly-expensive Monster Copper Pro in-ear monitors. I trusted their review because of who they are, and I can say that listening both to Naturespace recordings and pretty much all music is a different game with the Coppers. Pricey, but my-god-gorgeous sounds.

You might check out almost an hour of surf noise I recorded a couple of years ago, partially because of the Mefi podcast.

i luuurve the echoes of nature series - natural audio only (no cheesy new age music) beautifully recorded. naturespace looks like a strong contender, but they'll have a hard time beating the bass heavy, echoes-of-nature recording of "thunderstorm".

and no one, ever, will surpass the awesomeness of frog chorus. ever.
