X-Treme Travel!

A while ago I read an awesome travel-blog-style series of forum posts by a couple who drove across Kenya (?) in a 4x4. Help me find it again? Or other awesome extreme-travel stories?
Another cool story is by this guy who took the train from Europe to North Korea. More things like this would be most happily received.

Paula Constant (disclaimer : friend of mine) walked from London to Morocco, then a solo trek with camels across the Sahara. Her blog/books are pretty interesting reading.

I hope it's okay to link to friends' stuff in Ask cuz I think you might really enjoy this: Photobiker: the Earth seen from a Motorcycle. My friends rode their bikes from the northern tip of Africa down to Capetown, shipped their bikes across to the southern tip of South America and headed north. Crazy and amazing.

I don't have specific suggestions, but blogs from people doing the Mongolian Rally can be pretty crazy to read.

Robert Young Pelton's The World's Most Dangerous Places is like this. That edition is old, he is currently traveling around to make a new edition. In the mean time you can visit his forums, where a huge number of people engage in adventure travel and war tourism.
