Find me some bargains in Hong Kong!

I've got a week in Hong Kong...

so aside from the cheap food, what else is stonkingly cheap in Hong Kong compared to the UK or the USA? Where can I buy it? Are there any online shops I can buy direct from? (I hate going shopping in the traditional sense of the word)

Bonus points for online stores that have good but cheap (sub £500) laptops with good gaming power...

Clothing and accessories tend to be cheap, especially the nice stuff. Quality suits and eyeglasses are especially cheap.

I have the address of a quality eyeglass shop right here:

7/G Sai Yeung Choi Street,
Mongkok, Kowloon, H.K.
Tel:27718640

I got a great set of lenses and frames for about US$150.

Oh, and if you like photography, check out David Chan's shop.

If I were in Hong Kong right now, I'd consider looking into getting a pair of custom made shoes at LIII LIII shoes or Yue Wah.

Best answer: Completely missed this question. If you're still interested:

Apliu Street Flea Market - Sham Shui Po MTR Station, Kowloon: take exit A2 or C2, it'll take you straight to the market. Opens around 11AM all days. Jam-packed with miscellaneous accessories, webcameras, surveillance cameras, flashlights, cellphones, electronic parts, etc. Good place to pick up tools for soldering circuitry and/or tinkering. The Golden Shopping Arcade is the computer hub, full of extremely cheap hardware parts, computer cases, flash drives (4G on a thumb drive the size of two thumbnails will run you 45HKD, which is quite cheap), phone accessories, etc.

For online shops, dealextreme.com sells/ships all sorts of weird computer things all over the world with free shipping, but since you can get most of their stuff on Apliu St for much cheaper I wouldn't bother using them while you're in Hong Kong - it takes some searching through their site, and their shipping time varies from a week to a month for more of the obscure items. Fortress is a local chain store selling computer goods, but their prices may or may not be cheaper than stores where you are. They do have online shopping.

For miscellaneous cheap stuff, check out the Temple Street Market (aka the 'Men's Market') - Yau Ma Tei MTR Station or Jordon Station, though I think Yau Ma Tei is closer. I forget the closest exit, but there would be directions in the station itself. For ladies' clothing/accessories, try the Ladies' Market on Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok Station, exit E2. Fair warning, though - with all of the places I've listed above, they will almost always be packed unless you go right when they open, which tends to be 11AM.

Generally speaking, everything is going to be cheaper except goods imported to Hong Kong from the US or UK that are advertised as such. If it makes a selling point out of it (MADE IN THE USA!!11), it'll have a marked-up price, but if it's not advertised as such, it'll be lower (even if it IS made in the US, strangely enough). Also, smaller, more local shops will often have cheaper prices than the larger department stores. Wander around and you'll trip over these specialty shops (stationary, pharmacy, etc) pretty much everywhere, but especially in Kowloon. The Hong Kong side tends towards expensive.

For cosmetics/skincare, stores like Sasa or Bonjour will often carry name-brand products at a small discount compared to department stores.
