Where in Africa are these places?

I have two pictures, do you know where these places are in Africa?

Can anyone tell me specifically where these two photographs were taken? I'm at a total loss, I'm guessing either Kenya and Tanzania, but I haven't been to those places.

http://imgur.com/zr8s0 - possibly Kilimanjaro National Park in Tanzania?

Google Image Search shows no duplicates found, just to get that out of the way.

The second one might be Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania, judging by the suggestion of curvature in the escarpment and the fog, which is common there. Zebras and packed gravel/dirt roads are also to be found there.

Dammit Jakey.. I've just spent an hour or so trying to prove Ngorongoro crater.. Here's a pic of some similar vehicles in the crater. Tons of similar pics to that second one (ie of the crater walls from the crater floor) on google image if you just search the name and scan through a page or three.

Problem is that mini vans as safari vehicles (especially new ones) tend to be a Kenyan thing. And the number plate visible in the first photo doesn't look like a Tanzanian plate. Or really a Kenyan one either, because it seems to be a character short. But explaining that by the start of the plate being obscured, and the safari being on a cross border expedition from Nairobi, might just do the trick.

I can't help on the number plate, but I can confirm that I saw quite a few minivans in Ngororngoro when I was there a couple of years ago.

Do you know who took them?

Response by poster: Thank you Jakey! Ngrongoro crater is a great guess!

These two photographs are actually taken in TWO separate places - the first one I think it may be Kenya, when I zoom in on the license plate the first letter is a K...

The logo that the guy on the right is wearing in the first picture looks like it is from gAdventures. They apparently do safaris to both Tanzania and Kenya. I am guessing that, if you asked nicely, they might be able to identify the driver and location for you.

rongorongo, how did you find that? (I was trying to identify the logo too, but I didn't get anywhere.) Please teach us to fish!

I figured the logo looked most like a "g". It looked liked the men pictured were in a uniform and that they were either drivers or guides. I therefore tried a search of safari related companies that started with a g: "g* africa safaris and travel" - that brought up gAdventures.

Given that the second picture looks so much like Ngorongoro and that the number plates look Kenyan I am guessing that the pictures could have been taken between day 2 and 4 of this safari.

This looks pretty well answered, but I'd wager good shillings (Kenyan or Tanzanian) that photo one is from Kenya - speaking as someone who owns a Kenyan vehicle, and that photo 2 is from Ngorongoro, where I've been a couple of times. Photo 2 is clearly from the inside of a Landcruiser, which are much more common in Ngorongoro than in Kenya, where the pop-top minivans are more prevalent (although you'll see both in both places). There's a number of places with large enough escarpments that the second photo *could* be from Kenya, but judging by the road quality in front of the vehicle, its much more likely Ngoro as I've never seen many safari trails in Kenya approaching the quality of the ones in much more well-funded Ngoro.
