NY metro area dressmaker

Please help me turn this beautiful fabric into beautiful clothing.

A friend brought me some fabulous fabric from her travels and I'd like to have it made into casual skirts and/or dresses. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced dressmaker? I'm looking for someone with both sewing skills and with the style sense to put me into something comfortable yet flattering.

I saw an earlier thread with a recommendation in Philly, but the link was broken and anyway if possible I'd prefer NY/NJ.

go to a fabric store and look at patterns for styles you like. Or even use some clothing you love as a template. Then look for a capable seamstress. Word of mouth seems to be the best way to find someone.

Yelp and Angie's List (the latter you have to subscribe to) usually have recommendations for everything under the sun, including tailors. I found a good alterations place off of Yelp.
