Always Buy the Art on Vacation.

I'm trying to identify an art gallery that I stumbled upon in Kyoto 4 years ago close to the Philosopher's Path.

On a trip to Kyoto ~4 years ago, I walked the Philosopher's Path, and at some point (this is where my memory gets hazy) I walked off the path at a natural point and ended up at an art gallery. It was a clean, small-ish shop, and had paintings on the walls, sculptures, etc, for sale. It had a contemporary feel, if I remember correctly. The gallery was located very close to the Philosopher's Path, and was easy to walk in to, wander through, and walk back out of and back onto the Path. This was the only gallery I remember finding along the way, so I'm hoping it won't be impossible to identify.

I really regret not buying a specific piece of art that was hanging at that shop, and if I *at least* knew the name of the place, I'd feel more at peace with my stupid decision. I would love to find a website for them, if possible.

This is probably a long shot, but you guys always amaze me when it comes to long shots...

Was the first floor half-way below ground level?

Response by poster: I don't think it was half way below ground level but I could be wrong. I also think it was just one main floor, not two stories.
