Boyfriend changing his last name legally. What are some gifts I could get him to celebrate the change?

Boyfriend legally changing name back from his adoptive father's last name to his birth father's surname. Adoptive father was an abusive jerk so it has been a cathartic process for boyfriend. Anyhoo, the question is: what kind of gift could I get for said boyfriend to celebrate his new name once it is legal (in about 3 weeks)?

Pay for him to get a new driver's license (or ID).

Business/calling cards. I just got some with my new married name and they made me feel all sorts of official.

Hi, my boyfriend has done this, for similarish reasons.

He got a brand new nameplate for his desk and I got him a monogramed robe he says he really needed new business cards and a really, really comprehensive list of people who need to be informed ( and someone to help with all the paperwork )

He did the wedding-card thing of sending invite/announcement of s name change to everyone he knew, along with a new email and such. Helping with that could he the transition.

He said his favorite part was getting his new passport, so maybe shoot a really awesome photo for that?

I like the calling card idea-- and these Hoban Press letterpress cards are really snazzy.

Just sayin'.

If you think he'll be in the mood for something light-hearted to celebrate the completion of the process, you could decorate the house with "It's A Boy!" balloons.

One dumb idea: nametag t-shirt
And one ok idea:
He is going to need new checks. Checks are things that people hate to buy because they are so annoying and they should be free and no one really uses them anymore but you still need them anyway blah blah. So get him some cool new checks with his name and a design that he would like on them, instead of the boring blue ones. For instance, does he like polar bears? Awesome wolves? Obama? Jeans?

I like the check idea from rmless, and maybe mailing labels . You can get themes to suit any interest. We have Star Trek checks, which make me smile every time.

You could got to one of those marketing places that produce pens, gadgets, etc, that you see given away at doctors offices and banks and trade shows. Testing google, promotional products is the correct term. There should be a local place that will work with you. There are plenty of companies that make this stuff.

Monogrammed flask.

That's what I would want, anyway.

Careful with the business cards, if he works for a good-sized company they probably have a standard format (and, besides, will cover their cost).
