Choosing a biome in Minecraft?

Is there a Minecraft mod or other application that will let me choose a specific biome for a specific section of a map?

I'm working on a Minecraft project that will be greatly improved by being able to have an intersection of 4 specific biomes. I want to be able to have (for example) Savannah in one quadrant, Desert in another, Tundra in another and Rainforest in another. The chances of finding this in the wild are really really low. Another complicating factor is that I want a straight line between each biome (Savannah|Tundra), which isn't ever going to happen with the current implementation of the biome generator.

I'm happy to do this manually, on a block by block basis if I have to.

Any ideas?

I'd use an external editor (MCEdit?) to cut'n'paste large chunks between maps, then smooth over the edges in-game with WorldEdit.

Response by poster: It doesn't seem that MCEdit will copy the biome data as well. :( If I copy some dirt from Savannah to Rainforest, the grass colour changes. I want to keep the grass colour, which is dependent on the biome that it's located in.

The biomes are actually based on overlapping perlin noise functions for humidity and temperature.

Which means that the biome information isn't actually stored in the map file so it's hard to edit. If you get a mapper with biome support, though, you should be able to generate a big world and find an appropriate area on the map.

Solomon, ok, sorry, bad advice. But hey, I learnt something, so thanks...

You should look into TOGoS's Minecraft Map Generator. I don't think it can do something as precise as the quadrants you're looking for, but if you can tweak the terrain definitions correctly you should be able to get the biomes you want in close proximity, at least.
