Replacement needle for Dual 1229 record player?
I've recently come across this record player, which is in perfect condition and seems to be working, except there is no needle. Google has turned up many different types and brands of needles - I have no idea which one to go for! Any help would be appreciated.

Best answer: You might contact the folks at Needle Doctor and see if they can help you out. (I have no affiliation with them, but I know my brother is a happy customer.)

Best answer: The 1229's cartridge specifications are here. You get to pick among many cartridges with a weight specification that broad. The Chevrolet of cartridges is the Shure M97xE. They're about fifty bucks, it'll fit, and you can replace the stylus if your cat bats the tonearm at some point. It will play back just fine with the Dual, which is a decent TT.

Just to be clear on terminology:
There's the entire CARTRIDGE; and part of the cartridge is the NEEDLE proper.
If the cartridge is still there, you can get a replacement needle ("stylus") for less than cost of the entire cartridge. (Though I can't say I've shopped for either this century, so thanks for the Needle Doctor link, usonian....)
