pair networks out of business?

Has pair networks gone out of business? Is there a serious weather situation in PA that is not being reported?

This company has been a previous darling of recommendations here. I was part of the parade. But today my emails go unanswered (since 2am) and the phone system has no voicemail option ("severe weather") . Yikes??? Am I totally screwed?

All of my sites that are hosted with them are fully operational. There's nothing on the System Notices page that's out of the ordinary. Can you log into the account control center? Do you see open tickets there from the emails you've sent?

Response by poster: My ACC access doesn't 'access' - it times out. I cannot putty. Can you reach tech support? By phone or otherwise?

I just logged in to my ACC through my.pair.com, and am FTPing successfully.

I also used PUTTY successfully.

I get a message saying that the call center is closed due to inclement weather, yeah. Did you email urgent@pair.com from an address that isn't linked to your account?

They have had some severe weather in the area, nothing that I'd expect to take out a datacenter though. Perhaps the network problem's on your end?

Response by poster: Yes, I did email urgent. At 2am last night. and I asked for a follow up around noon today. They have never been this unresponsive before... The weather thing is on their phone system.

I just called tech support, and talked to a person. He said he'd post something here soon.

Short version I heard: everything's normal, some people did call in because of inclement weather (storms?), but they have staff there now.

We are having some thunderstorms in southeastern PA, but it's not bad enough to be causing any disturbances in services, unless it's MUCHMUCH worse in other parts of PA. My dog is pretty scared, though. She's silly.

To reiterate:

All services are working for me: web server, PUTTY, FTP, phone support, ACC.

I got e-mail from the tech support guy I talked to and he said his supervisor isn't comfortable with him posting here, but the issue was related to staffing and the phone systems, both of which have been fixed now.

Sounds like a combination of networking problems on your end and staffing problems on theirs. They're supposed to always have at least 2 people on at all times to cover the urgent line and it sounds like there wasn't anybody there. There weren't any severe storms last night to warrant that kind of message. I was a few blocks from them until about 2:30 AM and it was beautiful out.

Last night was gorgeous in Pittsburgh, but I get the impression the problem was Friday, nu?--Friday we did have some pretty major storms come through, complete with local flooding....

It wasn't a weather issue according to staff.
