Which doctor do I look for regarding throat issues?
For the past couple of years I've had long stretches where I have to clear my throat a lot. It comes and it goes but recently it's been pretty constant. I am pretty sure it's from driving an open-top jeep in Los Angeles (SMOG) It also happens after I eat what I think are lousy foods (although after having a major cold in January where I took antibiotics it has pretty much lingered until then) On my insurance plan there is no link for "respiratory" or "throat" doctor. Would a GP be the best way to go?

Aiee, I have the same problem! I think for me it has to do with dairy, among other things. I would also suggest an ENT or start with a GP and get a referral from there. Good luck!

You go to a GP and he'll refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Start with a GP. Could be post-nasal drip (allergist or ENT) or something else (think pulmonologist or gastroenterologist).
GP is a good starting point, and s/he may be able to treat.
