Pass/Fail - Credit Hour Conundrum

FedJobs - Will classes taken Pass/Fail count towards credit hour requirements?

I'm considering applying for a number of federal jobs and keep seeing requirements for credit hours in specific areas. In graduate school I took a number of courses Pass/Fail the summer before I started my program as refresher and would like to include these courses if possible. For most jobs they're looking for 18 credit hours in math/stats which I can cover easily, I'm just looking for any edge I can get.

From reviewing my transcript these courses did count toward my overall credit hours but not toward my "GPA" credit hours. Overall I have enough "GPA" credit hours to qualify for most but if I can include these all the better. If it helps my "GPA" credit hour courses are all grad level econometrics and stat courses, the Pass/Fail courses were all undergraduate math and stat courses.

Would it be better to include these in my application or leave them off?

I can't say with 100% certainty, but given that many graduate programs (mine included) ONLY offer courses pass/fail, I can't see how they could discount pass/fail courses entirely...

I don't understand how this even is a "conundrum" or why pass/fail credits wouldn't count as credits. I thought the whole point of taking a class pass/fail is that you do still get credit for it if you pass it.

But if you really want peace of mind about this, well, most vacancies will give an email address or phone number for questions about applying. Call them and ask.
