Help us pick the perfect island in the Bahamas

We are planning a trip to the Bahamas, and would love advice or recommendations from anyone familiar with the islands.

We will be going sometime in the spring. The purpose of the trip is to 1.) have fun, & 2.) check out future wedding spots. Here is what we seek: A cottage rental with beach access & good snorkeling; No crowds (not into shopping, clubs, restaurants); Access to kayak rentals; Close to a dive shop (we're both certified); Somewhat easy to get to (fly to Grand Bahama or Nassau & ferry over). Having a grocery store & liquor store & casual restaurant close by would be nice. Having a larger harbor nearby would be nice too.

Great Guana Cay seems very nice, and so do some of the other less-populated cays, but we're having trouble finding good advice from anyone we know, and internet searches aren't very helpful.

We plan on returning there later in 2011 or early 2012 to get hitched! We'll probably end up renting another beach house that will be shared with our wedding guests. We will probably be wed on a sailboat, or by a friend on the beach, and the celebration will most likely include dinner at a local restaurant & dancing on the beach.
We picked the Bahamas because they are easy & not to expensive to get to from Atlanta.

Any information you can share on cottage rentals, what the smaller islands are like, and ferry services would be greatly appreciated!

Best answer: My family has owned a house in the Abaco, (where great guana is) since the mid 70s. Take a look at rentals on Green Trurtle Cay. I have heard that they are doing major construction on great guana now and for most of the year, not sure how disruptive it would be. Green turtle is very quiet not many tourists at all but they do have many rentals. IMO the beach on the ocean side or sandollar beach would be gorgeous for a wedding. You can get to great guana and the other surrounding islands quickly by boat. Btw you should fly into marsh harbor or treasure cay, not Nassau or grand bahama. GTC has everything you listed, dive shop, grocery, many cute family owned restaurants.
