Help make our skiing trip the break needed!

First trip post baby, help us make it great (without breaking the bank). Husband and I want to go skiing for a long weekend in Feb (not school vacation week) and need to find the best place to go!

We live near Boston so we are looking mostly at VT. We've been to Okemo, Loon, Sugarbush (a lot), and possible a couple others, but we haven't been in awhile. Since we want to splurge a bit, it would be great to have a ski in ski out option, but dont' know if cost-wise that's really feasible. We are going for 4 nights (4 days of skiing) and would like to spend at least under $1000 on lodging.

As far as skiing goes, we mostly ski blues and blacks without moguls (I hate them, hate hate hate). Hubby likes to go off into woods on little trials, me not so much. Loon was a bit small for multiday skiing, Okemo was pretty good. Sugarbush was great size-wise but we've been there way too much for this trip.

So I guess to make a long question longer, what I'm looking for is suggestions for mountains to go to and places to stay on or near said mountains.

Is Tremblant too far of a drive for you? It's maybe 90 minutes out of Montreal (nice to add an extra night there if you can). I think it has the most ski-in/ski-out options of any Eastern resort. Even if you aren't slopeside, if you stay in the village you can take the gondola to the lifts. When I went, we parked our car in an underground garage, and didn't see it again for five days!

Response by poster: 7 hours in the car in possibly bad/slower winter driving conditions would probably be too much, especially since we wanted to ski and then drive home on Monday and only have both money and babysitters for a short bit of time.

Stratton is a bit snobby, but is a lot closer and really nice.

Stratton can be really icy if you get unlucky, I've had wonderful times at Stowe and Smugglers Notch.

Don't book for President's Week. That's the one the whole North East has off.

The Ski Vermont Resort Finder will help you find the places in VT. Almost any of the larger resorts will have enough to terrain to keep you occupied for 4 days and can have fun/neat/romantic accommodations. You should also check VRBO as well as they might have some deals.
